How a travel agency gets bookings from Google: the pages, the profile and the booking path
Direct bookings come from narrow pages (a trip plus a departure city), a verified office profile and tracking that counts enquiries. What Saudi travellers type, what page 1 shows and what to build first.
A travel agency gets direct bookings from Google through three things: narrow pages that match how travellers search (a trip plus a departure city), a verified Business Profile for the office, and a booking path you can count. Booking platforms hold the broadest searches, so build the narrow ones first.
This guide is for owners and marketing managers of travel agencies and tour operators that sell trips to travellers in Saudi Arabia and the Gulf. If you sell a destination to travellers abroad, read our guide for Oman tour operators instead. On 25 October 2026 we pulled Google Autocomplete for 84 searches, loaded six Riyadh search result pages, opened eight agency pages from page 1 and read Google’s documentation. Every finding names its source, and where we could not check something, we say so.

The short answer
| Door | The traveller types | Build this |
|---|---|---|
| Trip plus city | Turkey packages from Riyadh | A destination page per departure city |
| Offers and occasions | National Day travel offers | A dated offer page you update every year |
| Trip type | Family, women only, honeymoon | One page per trip type |
| Nearby office | Travel office near me | A verified Business Profile and a branch page |
| Questions before booking | How much does 7 days in Turkey cost? | A planning guide that links to the packages |

What Saudi travellers type
Autocomplete shows what Google suggests while people type. It is not search volume, and our machine is in Egypt, so we kept only the suggestions that make sense for Saudi travellers and dropped the rest.
| Type of search | Suggestions Google returned | Page to build |
|---|---|---|
| Office in a city | مكتب سفر وسياحة followed by Riyadh, Jeddah, Dammam, Madinah, Khamis Mushait, Hafr Al Batin, Makkah and Taif; مكتب سياحة قريب مني with “open now” | Profile and branch page |
| Destination package | باقات سياحية followed by Turkey, Malaysia, Georgia, Indonesia, Europe, Azerbaijan, Saudi Arabia | Destination page |
| Offers | عروض سفر followed by Turkey, National Day, for two, Georgia, family | Offer page |
| Group and honeymoon | رحلات جماعية نسائية, رحلات جماعية الى تركيا, باقات شهر العسل followed by Egypt, Malaysia, Maldives | Trip type page |
| Departure city, English | “travel packages from riyadh” followed by Abha, Europe, Turkey, Azerbaijan, Egypt, Georgia, Dubai | Departure city page |

The pattern is a trip joined to a place or a group. Two cautions. Some suggestions for family trips point to Algeria or Egypt, so Autocomplete also reflects Arabic speakers outside the Gulf. And for the owner’s own questions in Arabic (marketing a travel company, increasing bookings, appearing on Google) Autocomplete returned nothing beyond the phrase itself and website design searches. The questions still exist, because the Riyadh results for them are full of articles, but Autocomplete does not show them yet.
How big is the pool?
Google’s Keyword Planner returned ranges, not exact numbers, for our account. For 27 Saudi outbound package phrases (destinations such as Turkey, Malaysia, Georgia and Indonesia, honeymoon trips and the generic words travel company and tourism office) the lower bounds add up to 2,700 searches a month, and 2,000 of those belong to the two generic words. If every phrase sat at the top of its range the total would be 27,000. Khaleej SEO calculation: 2 x 10,000 + 5 x 1,000 + 20 x 100.
So the exact phrases are a small pool spread across many places. That argues for many narrow pages and a strong local profile, not for one big packages page. For scale, the Ministry of Tourism reports that Saudi Arabia’s travel payments abroad, the balance of payments travel imports, were SAR 110.4 billion in 2025 (preliminary), including spending by non-Saudi residents. The spend is large. The exact-phrase searches that lead to it are small and scattered.
What page 1 looks like
For باقات سياحية تركيا (Turkey packages) searched from Riyadh, page 1 had nine results: four agency pages, one booking platform’s package page, one travel marketplace’s destination page, two offer listing sites and one classified post. The English query “turkey tour packages from riyadh” gave an AI Overview and a similar mix: four agency or operator pages, a booking platform, two airline holiday sites, an offers listing and a voucher marketplace. Its “People also ask” box asked how much a Turkey trip costs and which month is best to visit. So agencies do appear, on the narrow query.
We opened the eight agency and operator pages by plain request, the way Googlebot smartphone first receives a page, before any script runs:
| Check on the 8 agency pages | Pages out of 8 |
|---|---|
| Price shown as text in riyals | 5 (one more shows another currency) |
| Day-by-day itinerary on the page | 2 |
| Markup describing the package (Product, Offer, TouristTrip, Event or FAQ) | 0 |
| Organization or TravelAgency markup | 5 |
| Language versions linked with hreflang | 3 |
| Exactly one H1 | 6 |
| A phone link | 8 |
| A link to a messaging app | 6 |
Source: Khaleej SEO page check, 25 October 2026. Text length ran from 437 to 4,103 words, median 1,637.
Most of the agencies that rank are price-led destination pages, and only two give the day-by-day plan on that page. Nobody describes the package in structured data, and Google has no tour feature to win (see below), so a complete page is what sets you apart. Every page has a call link and six of the eight have a messaging link, so the difference is not having the buttons. It is whether you count what happens after the tap.
The limits: these eight pages are the ones Google showed for two queries on one day, not a random sample. We read the HTML before scripts run, so a price loaded by a script would not show. We also opened one booking platform’s page, which has itinerary and FAQ text, hreflang for 16 Arabic and English versions and no riyal price in the HTML. The other three platform or airline pages refused the request or timed out. We do not name any site.
Five pages that earn direct bookings
- A destination page per departure city. Not “Turkey packages” but Turkey packages from Riyadh, and a separate page for Jeddah or Dammam with its own flights and dates. Show two to four packages with day counts, a price statement with its basis (per person or per room, and the date you checked it), what is included and excluded, departure dates, the visa rule linked to the government page that publishes it, and one way to enquire. A page where only the city changed adds nothing for the reader.
- A package page. The day-by-day plan, hotels and their category, meals and transfers, guide language, group size, payment and cancellation terms, who the trip suits, a short FAQ and one enquiry form. Only two of the eight pages we opened showed the plan.
- An occasion page. Autocomplete returns عروض سفر اليوم الوطني. Keep one address for National Day, one for Eid and one for school breaks, update it every year, and keep the year out of the address. Start about eight weeks ahead, which is our planning range and not a Google rule; the seasons table in our SEO timeline guide has the dates.
- A trip type page. Family, women only groups and honeymoon each have their own suggestions, their own questions and their own hotel and guide needs.
- A planning and trust guide. What a week costs, which month is best, how the visa works. These are the questions page 1 shows in “People also ask”, and each guide should link to the packages that answer it. On the Arabic office query the same box asks how to tell whether a travel company is trustworthy, so keep a page that says who you are, where the office is, what the opening hours are and what your booking and cancellation terms say.
Write the Arabic pages for Saudi travellers first instead of translating the English. Give each language its own address and link the versions to each other with hreflang, as Google’s guidance on localized versions describes. Our Arabic keyword research guide shows how to find the phrases.
Your office on Google
For مكتب سفر وسياحة الرياض the Riyadh page 1 showed a map pack, then agency home pages, two Instagram profiles, a business directory and two “best travel office in Riyadh” articles. The map pack is the part you control through your Business Profile. Google’s guidelines say:
- Profiles are for businesses with a physical location customers can visit, or ones that travel to customers. A virtual office, meaning a rented mailing address where you do not operate, is not eligible. Co-working offices qualify only with clear signage, customers received during business hours and your own staff present.
- Use the real name of the business as it appears on your signboard, website and stationery. Address, hours and category belong in their own fields, and the category should not be used as a keyword.
- Choose the fewest categories that describe the core business, and give an accurate address or service area.
- To improve your local ranking, Google lists verifying the business, keeping information complete and current, replying to reviews and adding photos and videos.
In practice that means one profile for every office that is staffed during business hours, each linked to a branch page on your site with the address, opening hours, team and the destinations that office sells. If something goes wrong, our Maps troubleshooting checklist is written for clinics but the verification and suspension steps are the same. An agency with no office customers can visit should not create a profile and should put the effort into its pages.
What Google supports in markup
Google’s structured data gallery, last updated 16 October 2026, lists features such as Article, Breadcrumb, Event, Local business, Organization, Product, Review snippet, Vacation rental and Video. It lists no feature for tours or travel packages. Its general guidelines say not to mark up content that readers cannot see on the page.
So add Organization details and a Local business description for each office, Breadcrumb on every page and Article on the planning guides. Schema.org has a TouristTrip type that can describe a package for machines, but Google shows no rich result for it, and none of the eight pages we opened used it. It is a description, not a ranking tool. Mark up reviews only when they are real customer reviews that readers can see on the page.
The booking path
| What the visitor does | How you record it |
|---|---|
| Taps a link to a messaging app or booking engine on another domain | An outbound click, which Google Analytics records by default through enhanced measurement |
| Taps a phone number | A custom event you define, because the enhanced measurement list has no phone link event |
| Sends the enquiry form | The generate_lead event, which Google recommends for lead funnels |
| Calls or walks in | You ask where they found you and write down the page or post |

Put every enquiry in one sheet with the date, the page, the channel and, a month later, whether it booked. That sheet, not the traffic chart, tells you which page deserves your next hour. We quote no enquiry to booking rate because we found no Gulf figure we could verify; use your own. If your analytics and your booking records disagree, our traffic without sales guide shows how to reconcile them.
A 90 day plan
| Weeks | Work | Done when |
|---|---|---|
| 1 to 2 | Count enquiries in analytics and the sheet; verify every office profile | Each enquiry has a page and a channel |
| 3 to 6 | Destination pages for your three best sellers from your main departure city, in Arabic and English | Three pages live, each with itineraries |
| 7 to 10 | Package pages and the next season page | Each package has a day-by-day plan and a form |
| 11 to 13 | Two planning guides; read Search Console queries against the enquiry sheet | You know which three pages brought enquiries |
The plan promises no ranking. Our timeline guide explains why results arrive on four different clocks, so you know what to expect and when.
When SEO is not the first move
If most of your bookings come from referrals and Instagram, and you have no tracking, start with the sheet and the profile before you build pages. Pages are where an edge shows when it is a destination or a traveller group few others serve, such as women only groups or a destination you know first-hand. Competing on the lowest price for the broadest destinations is a different game, because the platforms hold those searches and a page will not move them. Our travel SEO service and our Saudi Arabia SEO page explain how we work with agencies on this, and what we look at first.
