Arabic product description writing service: eight checks before you hire a writer or an agency for your catalogue

We read six Arabic service listings, seven agency pages and the descriptions on 102 live product pages from 18 Salla stores. What sellers promise, what stores publish, and eight checks for a trial batch, an AI rule and an order you can enforce.

To hire Arabic product description writing for a catalogue, send the same five real products and the same fact sheet to each candidate, then score the results on facts, wording, uniqueness, layout and an AI rule you wrote down. Pay for that trial, not for a price list. Of six Arabic service listings we read, none mentions a sample piece.

This guide is for owners and e-commerce managers in Saudi Arabia and the Gulf who must write or buy descriptions for dozens or thousands of products. On 2 November 2026 we ran 57 autocomplete searches and four Google searches from a Riyadh location, read six Arabic service listings and seven agency pages from page 1, opened six Google pages and one Salla help page, and read the descriptions on 102 live product pages from 18 Salla stores. We sell SEO, not description packages, so we say where our interest sits: checks 3 to 6 touch what search engines and Google’s product feed read, and our audit below looks at them. The limits are at the end.

The short answer: six findings and what to do

What we found What to do
Of 6 Arabic listings, 3 state a length per description (100 to 350 words), 4 a package size, 4 a delivery time and 2 a revision rule. Write the length, count and revision rule yourself, by product type.
1 of 6 says what you must send. None mentions a check of facts. Send a fact sheet and make the writer flag every gap.
None of the 6 mentions AI, a sample piece or who owns the text. 1 of 7 agency pages answers the AI question in writing. Put all three in the order.
On 102 live product pages the median description is 74 words. 22 pages have under 30 words and 5 have none. Set a minimum for each product type before you ask for a quote.
One store gives 4 of 6 sampled products the same 79-word text. 41 pages in 10 stores share a run of 8 or more words with a sibling page. Ask for original text per product and a duplicate check.
16 pages in 4 stores carry delivery times, add-on prices, a discount, video links or contact details inside the description. Keep descriptions about the product only, and check what your feed sends.

What buyers search, and what they find

We ran 57 autocomplete searches with the Saudi setting (24 English, 33 Arabic, from a machine in Egypt, capped at ten). Nine English and four Arabic phrasings returned anything. The English ones are mostly writer jobs, AI generators and templates: “product description writer” and “ai product descriptions” returned ten each. In Arabic, «كتابة وصف المنتجات» returned itself and two sentence fragments, and every hiring phrasing returned nothing, among them «خدمة كتابة وصف المنتجات», «شركة كتابة وصف منتجات» and the Salla, Zid and Shopify variants. “Hire product description writer” and “outsource product descriptions” also returned nothing. Demand for hiring is not visible in autocomplete, so we wrote this for the owner who has already decided to buy and is comparing offers.

On page 1 from Riyadh, the how-to search «كتابة وصف المنتجات» shows Salla’s help center, Zid’s blog, a Salla Academy course and a few agency and blog guides. The hiring search «خدمة كتابة وصف المنتجات للمتاجر الالكترونية» shows service pages, freelance marketplaces, one platform help page and one blog post. In English, “arabic product description writing service” shows a freelance marketplace, Arabic copywriting agencies and a translation company, and “product description writing service” shows global vendors and one agency guide on how to choose. We found no guide to buying Arabic product descriptions for Saudi stores.

What six Arabic service listings say

We read the six service listings we could open from the Arabic searches: three agency or store pages and three freelance marketplace listings. A seventh agency page showed only its title without JavaScript. Each row asks whether the listing states the item.

What a buyer needs Listings that state it Add to your order
Length of each description 3 of 6, from 100 to 350 words Length by product type
Package size 4 of 6, from 3 to 5 products or a total word count Exact product list
Delivery time 4 of 6, from one day to seven working days Dates per batch
Revision rule 2 of 6, one revision or unlimited Definition of a correction
What you must send 2 of 6, one lists links or photos, specifications and audience A fact sheet
Original, not supplier text 1 of 6 Duplicate check
AI rule, sample piece, ownership, fact check 0 of 6 each All four in writing

Prices appear on the listings, but packages differ too much to compare: three products at 300 to 350 words are not five products at 100 words, so we compare none. Of the seven English-language agency pages, all name product descriptions as one service among many, none mentions a trial piece, and one, a Riyadh agency, answers the question “do you use AI” in writing: AI for research and early drafts, every piece edited and fact-checked by its writers, and you approve each draft.

What 102 live product pages show

We took the 22 Salla stores from our store-design test of 1 November, live stores that appear in our October Riyadh searches for abayas, watches, jewellery, coffee and similar products. From each store’s sitemap we picked six product addresses spread evenly down the list, skipped any address that led to the home page and tried more spread through the list, up to 18. Of 234 addresses tried, 103 gave a product page and 131 ended on the store’s home page after a redirect. Four stores gave no product page, so 18 stores and 102 pages remain, after capping each store at its first six. We read the raw page without JavaScript, took the text from the visible description block and counted words as groups of characters between spaces.

What the descriptions show Pages or stores
Median length (lower and upper quartile) 74 words (41 and 149)
Under 30 words 22 of 102 pages
Of those: no text at all 5
Of those: only a repeated name, a code or a returns line 4
Of those: a bare list of specifications 9
Of those: a single sentence 4
150 words or more 24 of 102 pages
A list of three or more items 54 of 102 pages
Word-for-word identical text on several products 2 stores
A run of 8 or more words shared with a sibling page 41 pages, 10 of 18 stores
Delivery time, price, discount, video link or contact inside the description 16 pages, 4 stores

The identical text is the clearest case. In one store, four of six sampled abayas carry the same 79-word description, care instructions included, under four different names. In another store two products share the same six-word specification line. The 41 pages that share a run with a sibling mostly share care, delivery, returns or specification lines, and in three stores a descriptive sentence reused across products. A bare list of specifications is what Google’s feed guide asks you to include, and it can be right for a watch, but 9 of the 22 short pages offer nothing else, and the shopper is left to guess what the product is for.

Eight checks before you pay for descriptions

1. Size the job from your own catalogue

Count products, variants, categories and languages first. Salla’s help center says the product list can be filtered to products without a description, and the task counts as done when every product has one (page updated 22 August 2026). Group products into types, for example a watch with movement and warranty, an abaya with fabric and cut, a pack of coffee with origin and roast. Each type needs its own fact fields and its own length. Good answer: one row per product with its type marked. Warning sign: a quote per product with no type, no variants and no length. The sitemaps of the 19 stores that listed product addresses show a median of 749 (68 to 3,366), but more than half the addresses we tried led to the home page, so count your live products yourself.

2. Give a fact sheet and make the writer flag gaps

Columns that work: name, type, material or ingredients, size, colours, what is in the box, care, warranty, origin and claims that must not be made. Only 1 of the 6 listings says what to send. A writer who guesses a specification produces a wrong page, and Google’s feed guide asks that a description be specific, accurate and consistent with the title and the landing page. Good answer: every number and claim in the text appears in the sheet, and missing facts are flagged in their own column. Warning sign: adjectives with no facts, or “100% cotton” that is not in your sheet. We give no legal or medical advice: a claim about health, safety or origin needs a person who can prove it.

3. One description per product, with a duplicate check

In our test four of six abayas in one store share a description, and 41 pages share a run with a sibling. Google’s spam policies list scraping feeds and content from other sources, including by rewording or translating it, among examples of scaled content abuse when little value is added. Ask for no supplier text, text built from your sheet for each product, and a duplicate check across the delivered file. Put care lines, size guides and delivery terms in their own page areas, not inside every description. Good answer: shared lines sit in one place and each product text differs. Warning sign: “we use a template” with the same paragraph on every page.

4. Test the Gulf words, not only the grammar

Take ten words from the draft that name the product, its cut or its use. Type each into Google with the Saudi setting and see which ones shoppers use; our guide to Arabic keyword research for the Gulf shows the method, and our abaya store guide shows what happens with cut names. Latin brand names stay in Latin: Google’s feed guide allows foreign words that are well understood, such as a product with a foreign name, and asks that most of the product data match the language of the data source. Good answer: the ten words are ones shoppers use or brand names you chose to keep. Warning sign: dictionary Arabic nobody types, or the same product spelled two ways. A translated text has the same risk, which our post on translated websites that do not rank explains.

5. Put the facts first and keep the promotions out

Google’s feed guide puts the most important details in the first 160 to 500 characters, lists size, material, features and technical specifications as useful content, and says to describe only the product: no price, sale dates, shipping, delivery date, company name or links to other sites. In our test 16 pages in 4 stores carried delivery times, add-on prices, a discount, video links or contact details inside the description. Whether your platform sends the page text to Google’s feed depends on its settings, which we did not check, so ask. Good answer: the opening lines say what the product is, who it is for and its size or material, with a list for specifications and sentences for use. Warning sign: the opening is a slogan, and the delivery terms come before the product.

6. Write the AI rule into the order

Google’s guidance says generative AI can help with research and with adding structure to original content, that generating many pages without adding value may break its spam policy, and that all AI output needs a manual fact-check, including metadata. For ecommerce, its feed guide says descriptions created with generative AI must be sent in the structured description field marked as AI-generated. None of the 6 listings mentions AI, and Salla’s own help page offers AI tools as one way to write descriptions and hired providers as the other, so the question is how, not whether. Good answer: a written yes or no, the tool used, who edits, who checks facts, and a column in the delivery file that marks AI-assisted text so your feed can label it. Warning sign: “100% human” you cannot check, or silence.

7. Pay for a trial of five products and score it

Choose five products: a simple one, a technical one, one with variants, one with a Gulf wording problem and one where your sheet leaves a fact out on purpose, to see whether the writer flags the gap or invents an answer. Send the same sheet to two or three candidates and score the results with a sheet like this one. The pass marks are our suggestions, not Google’s.

Criterion How you test Pass mark
Facts Compare every number and claim with your sheet None invented, gaps flagged
Uniqueness Read the five side by side No shared paragraph
Gulf wording Autocomplete test of ten words All ten used or kept as brands
First lines Read only the opening 500 characters Product, user, size or material
Delivery file Open it in your import format Needs no repair
AI rule Compare with the written rule Matches the rule

8. Fix the terms: corrections, ownership and delivery

Define a correction (a factual error, free) and a revision (a change after approval). Have the text assigned to you, with no resale of your text to other stores and your catalogue kept confidential. Ask for a spreadsheet whose columns match your import, with the description and the meta description in separate columns. Pay by batch, with an acceptance step, and release the next batch only when the trial standard holds. Record impressions, clicks and sales of the product pages before the batch, check them after a period you set, and read the result with our guide to measuring SEO return. No provider can promise a sales result, and we found none that did.

What changes the quote

The number of products and variants, the length by type, the depth of research (technical, food and cosmetic products need more), the languages, whether AI drafts are used and edited, whether the provider uploads to your store, the revision rule and the speed. We publish no prices and compare none.

A seven-day plan

  1. Day 1. Count live products and filter the ones without a description.
  2. Day 2. Group them into types and set a length for each.
  3. Day 3. Build the fact sheet for the five trial products.
  4. Day 4. Write your AI rule and your terms on one page.
  5. Day 5. Send the same trial to two or three candidates.
  6. Day 6. Score the results with the sheet above.
  7. Day 7. Pick one, order the first batch and record the baseline.

When a writer is not the fix

If product pages are not found in Google, the cause may be technical or structural, not the text. Start with our e-commerce SEO audit checklist. If you run a Salla store and wonder whether an app can do the job, read Salla SEO apps or an expert. For written content beyond product pages, see our ten checks for Arabic content writing services. How we checked, and the limits

On 2 November 2026 we ran 57 Google autocomplete searches with the Saudi setting (24 English, 33 Arabic, from a machine in Egypt, capped at ten) and four Google searches with personalisation off from a Riyadh location. Titles and addresses were noted, and no positions are reported. No People Also Ask box was captured, so the FAQ questions come from the checks. Six Arabic service listings and seven English agency pages were read and what they state was counted by reading; a seventh Arabic page showed only its title without JavaScript, one marketplace page refused our request, and the text of the others reflects the day we opened them. No seller is named. Six Google pages were opened, three of them cited, and one Salla help page.

For the store test we used 22 stores that appear in our October Riyadh searches, so they are not a random sample. Four gave no product page. Of the 234 addresses tried, 131 ended on the home page for a reason we did not investigate, and the product pages that stay live may differ from those that redirect. Descriptions are the text in the raw page without JavaScript, and word counts split on spaces. Salla is one platform, and Zid, Shopify and WooCommerce stores may differ.

Our reading covers what the pages contain. Sales, rankings, conversion and what any store sends to Google’s feed were not measured. The care, delivery and specification lines called shared are our reading of overlaps of eight words or more, checked by hand on a sample. Our visitor had an Egyptian IP address. These are readings of one day.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

How long should an Arabic product description be?

There is no single length. Google's product feed guide asks for the most important details in the first 160 to 500 characters and allows up to 5,000. On the 102 product pages we read, the median description was 74 words and about a quarter ran over 149. Set a length for each product type, based on what a shopper must know before buying it.

Should I use AI, a freelancer or an agency for product descriptions?

Decide on three things: how many products you have, how costly a wrong fact is (electronics, food, cosmetics), and who checks the text. Google allows AI for research and structure but asks for a human fact-check, and Salla's own help page lists both AI tools and hired providers. Send the same five products to each option and score the results.

Do I have to tell Google that my descriptions were written with AI?

If you send your products to Google Merchant Center, yes: Google's feed guide says descriptions created with generative AI must go in the structured description field, marked as AI-generated. For the text on your own pages, Google's guidance asks for accuracy and review, and suggests explaining how content was made. Ask your provider to mark AI-assisted text in the delivery file.

Can a writer reuse the supplier's description?

It is risky. A supplier's text appears on every store that sells the product, and Google's spam policies list scraping feeds and content from other sources, including by rewording or translating it, as scaled content abuse when little value is added. Keep the supplier's specifications as facts in your fact sheet and ask for original text per product.

What counts as a revision?

Write it down before work starts. A factual error in the writer's text is a correction and should be free. A change of tone, length or structure after you approved the brief is a revision. Of the six Arabic listings we read, two state a revision rule: one allows a single revision and one allows unlimited revisions.

Will longer descriptions sell more?

We cannot say. We measured the text on live pages, not sales, so no figure here shows that a longer description sells more. Compare product pages before and after a batch, one product type at a time, and read the result with our guide to measuring SEO return.
